Our project development services range from concept and pre-feasibility stages, through to financial close were we hand the project over for execution. Our project experience has been developed over a wide range of technologies in Africa including coal, gas, hydro, renewable energies and co-generation.
The front office project development team covers the following areas: Legal, including all project commercial arrangements, policy and legislative issues. Regulatory, which deals with all relevant licensing and other regulatory requirements. Commercial, which manages the RFPs and any contracting arrangements for the project. Technical, addressing any technical input required during the project development phase before execution. Finally Financial, dealing with any capital raising, insurance, transaction advisory, risk assessment and financial modelling.
AEP’s project office will assist with any Project Management including budgeting, appointment of service providers, feedback to fund principals an post financial close monitoring.
Over the past 20 years, we have learnt that there is no substitute for experience and this is especially true in Africa, which offers a more complex environment then is experienced in developed markets.
The AEP team sits at the nexus of a network of key stakeholders in energy in Sub-Saharan Africa. We have developed and implemented many of the regulations, legislation and policies currently in place, provide on-going assistance to incumbent utilities and supported many large energy users with a variety of issues relating to their offtake. There is no team better placed to develop power projects given our skills and network.
